Resource & Referral - Project ASSIST

 

Project ASSIST is a central resource directory for anyone seeking information about organizations, programs or agencies that may provide services and supports for children and young adults up to 21 years with disabilities, and their families.

Information is available on:

  • Parent Support Groups

  • Respite Care

  • Screening, Diagnosis or Assessment

  • Early Intervention Programs for Infants and Toddlers

  • Preschool Special Education Services

  • Education, Health, and Social Service Agencies

  • Vocational Training

  • Physical and Occupational Therapy

  • Speech and Language Therapy

  • Counseling and Psychological Services

  • Advocacy Organizations

  • Life Planning, Financial and Legal Assistance

  • as well as many other services

Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., telephone calls are answered promptly when staff is available.  There is 24-hour voice mail and calls are returned generally within two working days.   The Project ASSIST database yields a printout describing each selected resource and automatically generates a packet of information that is mailed to you on the same day, at no cost.

Autism Screening/Technical Assistance
 
Nevada Statewide Screening Center (pdf)

We offer FREE - NO COST developmental screenings of children between 4 months and five years of age, from experts certified to provide professional assessments.  All it takes is 30 minutes to complete a simple questionnaire asking questions about your child’s development. Once the form is complete, it is sent to the State of Nevada, Nevada Statewide Screening Center, where an expert in child development reviews and provides confidential results in the following areas:* Speech and Language development to include communication, vocabulary, word use, fluency skills, etc.* Cognitive development.  Focuses on how children learn such as short-term memory, reasoning/problem solving, etc.* Social-emotional development.  Social interactions and relationships with parents, caregivers and other children.* Physical development to include areas of large/gross motor development such as jumping, walking, and running.  Small/ fine motor development such as grasping, cutting; and hand-eye coordination.  For more information, please call (Toll-Free) or write:  Nevada Statewide Screening Center, 4150 Technology Way,Suite 300, Carson City, NV 89706
